2 drug-peddlers held with 30 kg poppy straw

UDHAMPUR, May 6: Continuing its drive against drug- peddlers, Police party of Police Station Udhampur  apprehended two drug- peddlers and seized 30 kg  of poppy straw from their possession.
Official sources said that Police team from Police Station Udhampur led by SHO Chanchal Singh, under the supervision of Sahil Mahajan DySP Hqrs, Udhampur laid a naka at Jakhani Chowk, National Highway for checking.
During checking, Police party stopped one truck bearing registration number PB13X/9733. On search of the said vehicle, 30 kg of poppy straw was recovered.
The narcotic smugglers namely- Satpal Singh, son of Ram Singh from village Sandour, Tehsil Malerkotla in Sangroor Punjab and Mohd Shamshad, son of Dev Sain, resident of Mohallah Bag Wala, Satta Chowk, Malerkotla, Sangroor Punjab were arrested on the spot and poppy straw was recovered. The vehicle was also seized.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 151/2021 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act at PS Udhampur was registered and further investigation was underway.
