2 drug peddlers held with brown sugar, cash

SRINAGAR, Nov 24: Police have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered brown sugar and cash from their possession in Srinagar.
Police today said that at a checkpoint established on National Highway (NHW) opposite Tehsil Office Central Shalteng, a truck was intercepted with two persons onboard.
“During the search, 14 grams of brown sugar and a cash amount of Rs 34,000 (believed to be proceeds of narcotics) have been recovered from their possession,” police said.
Both the accused, identified as Tajamul Rafiq, a resident of Kandi Tanghar, and Manzoor Ahmad of Hayhama Kupwara, presently residing at Palpora Noorbagh in Srinagar, have been arrested, and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 72/2024 has been registered and an investigation initiated, police added.
