2 drug peddlers held with contraband

Srinagar, Dec 31: Police today said to have arrested two drug peddlers in Awantipora and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
Official sources said that police party from Police Station Pampore at a checkpoint established at Tancbagh, intercepted a car (Alto) bearing registration number JK01H-8095 with two persons on board.
“They were identified as Jahangir Ahmad Shairgojri son of Lal Mohd Shairgojri and Javaid Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Nabi Mir, both residents of Sharshali Khrew,” police said.
During checking, 3 kgs of Poppy straw was recovered from their possession. “They have been arrested and shifted to the police station. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized,” police said.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 165/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pampore and further investigation has been initiated.
