2 drug-peddlers nabbed, 160 gm heroin seized

POONCH, Oct 4: Carrying forward its ongoing fight against the menace of drugs, Poonch police today achieved a major success when it apprehended two notorious drug- peddlers and recovered 160 gms of heroin (Chitta) from their possession.
Official sources said that during morning, Poonch Police laid a naka near Shamshan Ghat, Dungus in Poonch for vehicle checking. A blue bike bearing registration No. JK12B/1206 coming from Christ School sode and going towards Sher-e-Kashmir bridge was stopped at naka for checking.
On being stopped, two persons riding the bike started behaving indifferently which created suspicion in the minds of police party at naka.
On checking 130 gms of Chitta (heroin) was recovered from the possession of pillion-rider who disclosed his identity as Arshad Mehmood alias Vicky Tadda, son of Khurshid Ahmed, resident of Palera, Mandi, at present Mohalla Radio Station, Poonch and 30 gms of heroin was recovered from the possession of rider, namely Tahir Iqbal Shah, son of Munir Hussain Shah, resident of Mohalla Power House, Poonch.
Both the persons were arrested immediately, and the bike was seized. In this connection, a case FIR No.163/2023 U/S 8/21/22/25/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station, Poonch.
Police said both are notorious drug-peddlers who used to supply `Chitta’ to innocent youth in and around Poonch and Rajouri. Several FIRs are registered against them at different Police Stations.
Arshad Mehmood alias Vicky Tadda is working as Rehbar-e-Khel (REK) teacher at Govt High School Palera in Mandi.
Police team led by SHO, Insp. Deepak Pathania assisted by PSI Sohan Singh made the recovery and arrests under the supervision of Ahjaz Ahmed, DySP Hqrs. Poonch.
