KATRA, Mar 30: The police arrested two drug smugglers from the holy township of Katra today and recovered some charas and liquor from their possession.
Reports said police party raided the residence and shop premises of one Balbir Chand, son of Lakshman Dass, resident of Karua, near Nou Devian in district Reasi. During search 97 challis (Charas) weighing 4.360 kg along with 43200 cash, was recovered from shop and Maruti car bearing registration No. JK02X-0696 and 96 liquor bottles (including 14 bottles of 750ml each, 20 bottles of 375ml each, 62 bottles of 250ml each) making thereby 33.5 Ltrs. recovered and one more person namely Sudesh Singh, son of Angrez Singh, resident of Dharan, servant of the accused was also arrested from the spot. On this, Case FIR No. 55/2019 u/s 8/20/29 NDPS Act, Excise Act was registered .
Meanwhile 41 bottles of liquor have been recovered near Petrol Pump Reasi from the possession of one person namely Yashpaul, son of Prem Nath, resident of W. No. 05 Katra. Case FIR No. 56/2019 U/S 48-A Excise Act was also registered at P/S Reasi.
