2 drug peddlers nabbed with charas, poppy straw

Srinagar, Jan 15: Police today said to have arrested two drug peddlers in Ganderbal, Pulwama and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Officers from Police Station Ganderbal at a checkpoint established at Syed Kadal intercepted one person identified as Showkat Ahmad Shah son of Gh Ahmad Shah resident of Harran Ganderbal.
During checking, officers were able to recover 250 grams of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custody,” police said.
Accordingly, police said, a case vide FIR No.03/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Ganderbal and further investigation has been taken up.
Similarly in Pulwama, police said, officers from Police Station Kakapora during patrolling in Hunipora Wanpora intercepted one person who was roaming suspiciously and tried to flee from the spot but the alert police party arrested him tactfully.
“During checking, officers were able to recover 5.1kgs of Poppy Straw from his possession. He has been identified as Tariq Ahmad Ganaie son of Mohd Akbar Ganaie resident of Wanpora Pulwama,” police said.
During preliminary investigation, the accused person disclosed that he has hidden more contraband substances in his residential house. “Subsequently, the Police party raided the accused residential house and recovered 9.4kgs of Poppy straw.”
Accordingly, a case FIR No.03/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kakapora and further investigation set into motion.
