JAMMU, Dec 3: Two election staff members were among 14 persons injured in three separate road accidents in districts Poonch and Rajouri today.
Official sources said that two election staff members Bashir Ahmed Khawaja and Shabir Ahmed Khawaja, residents of village Malhan in Surankote were seriously injured after their Maruti car No. JK-12/1878 was hit by a Matador and then rolled down into the fields this morning. They were proceeding to Menthar where Panchayat elections is being held tomorrow.
Both the injured were rushed to Poonch hospital where doctors referred them to GMC Hospital, Jammu. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
Five persons were injured when an Eco vehicle met with an accident near Dhar Galoon in Mendhar today. The driver lost control over the vehicle and it landed into a gorge. All the five accident victims were shifted to SDH Mendhar. One of them was later referred to DH Rajouri.
The injured are identified as – Azia Javed -16, Haseena Gulzar-17, Zeenat Firdous-18, Menhaz Kouser-40 and Qayoom Khan-50, residents of Sandote in Balakote.
Meanwhile, eight persons were injured when an Autorikshaw and Alto car collided near Nonial village in Nowshera today. The injured Parveen Choudhary, Rajeev Choudhary of Kalsian, Tania Choudhary of Satwari and Amit Kumar of Chowki, Suresh Kumar from Karhali, Veena Kumari, Nisha Kumar of Nonial, Priyanka, Paramkjeet Kour and Tejpal of Karhali were removed to Nowshera hospital. Police has taken cognizance.
