JAMMU, July 11: Two women employees were crushed to death by a school bus this afternoon near Mian Dido Chowk, Rehari.
According to a police official, a bus (bearing registration number JK02E-5209) ferrying students of Kendriya Vidayalaya Nagrota badly crushed two women standing outside a shop near Mian Dido Chowk before hitting the wall of a shop and a tree. He said the mishap occurred today at about 2 PM when the driver lost control over the steering due to some alleged technical fault.
“While the driver of the vehicle fled from the spot of crime leaving behind the vehicle, the grievously injured women were immediately taken to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where one of the injured namely Raj Rani (42) wife of Rattan Lal, resident of Ward No 13 (Akhnoor) was declared as brought dead by the doctors,” the official said. He added that the other injured woman namely Sweety (45) wife of Mohan Lal, resident of Ward No 5 (Akhnoor) also succumbed to her injuries during treatment, at about 5:20 PM.
The dead bodies of both the deceased were sent for postmortem while a case in this connection was registered at police station Pacca Danga and further investigations started. According to the reports, the deceased women were employees of Social Welfare Department, Jammu.
Meanwhile, Incharge, police post Rehari, Sub Inspector Ashish Sagar said that the vehicle involved in the accident has been seized while accused driver namely Shanker Dutt son of Sant Ram, resident of Jawahar Nagar, New Plot (Jammu) has also been arrested.
