DODA, Sept 27: Three persons including two Government teachers were killed when their vehicles plunged into river Chenab, here today.
As per police sources, an Alto K-10 car bearing registration number JK06A-2180 was on its way to Thathri from Doda, when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it plunged into river Chenab near Jangalwar area on Batote-Doda-Kishtwar highway, resulting into on the spot death of two Government teachers.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and retrieved the body of one female teacher of Government High School Bella identified as Parmeshwari Devi (50), wife of Arvind Kotwal, a resident of Bella, district Doda.
Search was also launched to retrieve the body of another-victim identified as Mohammad Saleem Wani, a teacher in GBHSS Thathri, son of Ghulam Hussain Wani, a resident of Phagsoo Thathri from the river. The body was not fished out, when reports last were received.
Meanwhile, a driver was killed when the truck he was driving rolled down into river Chenab near Naseeb Nagar area on Doda-Kishtwar highway.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK08B-6972 was on its way to Jammu from Kishtwar, when the driver lost control over it and it plunged into river Chenab near Naseeb Nagar area, falling under the jurisdiction of Thathri Police Station.
On getting information, police team along with locals rushed to the spot and fished out the body of the driver from the river.
After completing legal formalities, the body of the deceased has been handed over to family members for last rites.
The deceased has been identified as Sabha Din, son of Mohammad Ali, a resident of district Kathua.
In both the accidents, cases under relevant Sections have been registered at Thathri Police Station and investigation started.
