SAMBA, May 22: Two hand pumps in village Sumb of district Samba are defunct for last two months, but the PHE Department is in deep slumber and people are facing lot of problem due to water crisis during this lockdown of COVID -19.
The two hand pumps are defunct for two months in Village Sumb of district Samba which has added to the problems of the people as they have to cover a lot of distance to fetch the water for their daily use. The problem has been further compounded due to the increasing heat wave as it is difficult to cover a long distance for fetching the water in scorching heat, said the villagers.
Local people, said that in their area there is also no proper means of water supply. Even though pipes have been installed still there is no regular water supply.
While talking to media persons, local residents Pankaj Sharma, said that the handpumps of water near the market and temple of village Sumb have not been working for the last two months and people’s worries who are already upset due to Corona virus have been further compounded due to water scarcity.
He said we have informed the PHE Department of the same, but the Department has not paid any attention to this.
On every Tuesday and Sunday thousands of devotees come to see Baba Shivo Temple Goran, but due to the malfunctioning of hand pumps in the area, the devotees have to face problems.
Showing their resentment towards the PHE Department the people of Sumb said that they will come to streets in case the hand pumps were not restored immediately in the village.
