Cross LoC narco-terror network busted

RAJOURI, Dec 16: In a major success against drug trafficking, a joint operation by the Indian Army and Police at Makri in Bhawani area of Nowshera sector, led to the arrest of two individuals and the recovery of over 5.3 kilograms of narcotic substance.

While briefing the newspersons SSP Rajouri, Gaurav Shikarwar said that with this recovery worth crores, a cross-LoC Narco-terror network has been smashed. The smugglers were rounded up by the joint team of army and police in Sher Makri area, close to the Line of Control.
He disclosed that the accused have been identified as Sajan Kumar alias Vicky, son of Om Parkash, and Subash Chander, son of Pashori Lal, both residents of Nowshera, in district Rajouri. They were apprehended on the spot, and the contraband substance/ heroin was seized in the presence of a Magistrate.
An FIR No. 178/2024 under Sections 8, 21, and 22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station, Nowshera in this connection.
The seized narcotics, suspected to be smuggled from Pakistan, are believed to be linked to cross-LoC narcotics smuggling networks. A thorough investigation is underway to trace the source and distribution network of the seized substance.
SSP Sikarwar commended the coordinated efforts of the police and the army in combating drug smuggling. He highlighted the recent achievements of the Rajouri Police in their intensified campaign against drug abuse.
The SSP was joined at the press conference by Additional SP Bikram Kumar, DySP Headquarters Satish Kumar, and SHO Rajouri Abid Shah, who shared insights into the ongoing investigation and operational strategies.
“The Rajouri Police have strengthened their intelligence network and enhanced public cooperation to eliminate drug trafficking. Drug abuse poses a serious threat to our society, and with the community’s support, we can eradicate this evil,” SSP Sikarwar stated.
He urged citizens to report any suspicious activities or individuals involved in drug-related offences.
The Rajouri Police reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the public by taking stringent action against drug- peddlers and smugglers.
