2 held with charas, banned drugs; 4 arrested with 7 bovines

KISHTWAR, Mar 31: Two notorious drug peddlers along with a consignment of charas, banned drugs and other contraband were arrested from Kishtwar town while four bovine smugglers were also arrested from separate places and seven bovines were rescued from their possession.
“Last night during naka checking near Hadyal chowk in the middle of Kishtwar town, two suspects were intercepted who after sensing police presence tried to flee but the alert naka party nabbed the duo and on frisking recovered charas and contraband capsules from their possession,” a police official said.
He said the arrested drug peddlers have been identified as Mushtaq Ahmed (a shopkeeper) son of Wali Mohd Sheikh, resident of Matta and Mohd Saleem son of Ghulam Nabi Ganie, resident of Ganie Mohalla. “On questioning, Mushtaq Ahmed admitted that he used to sell drugs/capsules to youth especially students,” the official said, adding, in this regard case, a case FIR No 54/2019 under Section 8/20 of NDPS Act have been registered against them at police station Kishtwar.
Meanwhile, Kishtwar police also arrested four smugglers from different places and rescued seven bovine animals from their clutches. On receipt of specific information about illegal transportation of bovines by some unknown persons under jurisdiction of police posts Drabshalla and Kuleed, special teams were constituted by SHO police station Kishtwar, which raided various places and rescued bovine animals and arrested all the accused persons.
In this connection, two cases FIR No 50/2019 and 53/2019 under Section 188 RPC & Section 3 of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act stand were registered at police station Kishtwar.
