2 HM OGWs arrested

SRINAGAR, July 25 : Security forces today arrested two Over Ground Workers (OGWs) of Hizbul-Mujahideen during an operation in Tukpora village of Bandipora district in North Kashmir while a militant hideout was busted in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
The two OGWs were arrested in apple orchard in Turnadi Turkpora village of Bandipora district early today following the inputs about presence of militants in the area. The operation against them was launched jointly by police and 27 Rashtriya Rifles of Army.
Arms and ammunitions were recovered from their possession. They include two pistols, 27 pistol rounds, 3 pistol magazines, 51 AK-47 rounds and two hand grenades.
The duo was identified as Mohammad Saleem Gojar son of Abdul Aziz Gojar of Turknad and Mohammad Ismail of Rajouri.
Police said they were active OGWs of HM outfit, adding that a case under Section 7/25 Act has been registered in police station Bandipora and investigation is going on.
Police said that the duo were also involved in Shokbaba encounter case. They had helped the group of five militants who were killed in Shokbaba in North Kashmir last year.
Police said that as per the investigations, it is learnt that they were involved in facilitating infiltration and providing logistic support to militants.
Police said that all the incriminating materials recovered have been taken into case records for the purpose of investigation and probe their complicity in other cases.
Meanwhile, security forces today busted a militant hideout in Shopian district of South Kashmir.
A joint operation was launched by police, 23 Paras of Army and CRPF in Yarwan forest area of Shopian district today during which a hideout was busted. Large quantity of food items, utensils, clothes and bedding was recovered from the hideout.
The operation was launched this morning after reports about presence of militants in the Yarwan forest area. The operation is still going on and more troops were rushed to the area.
