JAMMU, July 3: Two residential houses belonging to notorious drug peddlers were seized under relevant Sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in Samba district today.

The properties, worth more than Rs 50 lakh, belonged to Farman Ali alias “Munna” and his close associate Farman Din alias “Fama”, the spokesman said.
He said Ali, who was named in multiple FIRs in Jammu and Samba districts, was booked under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act early this year, while his associate is currently absconding.
He said the attachment of properties linked to proceeds of crime will work as a deterrent for illegal narcotics trade in the region.
Police said the properties were seized under Operation Sanjeevani under Section 68F (Chapter 5A) of Narcotics & Psychotropic Substances Act.
The action was taken by Police Station Bari Brahmana, where Pacca houses of two drug peddlers worth approximately Rs 19 lakhs and Rs 31 lakhs respectively were seized under 68F(1) of NDPS Act via a freezing order issued in this regard, police said.
The Police Station, Bari Brahmana had lodged a FIR 06/2024 under NDPS Act , in which accused Farman Ali alias Munna son of Bagh Hussain of BalolKhad was booked for illicitly transferring money amounting to about Rs 4.50 lakh to Punjab and having in possession Chitta and cash currency of Rs 1.29 lakhs. On further investigation one of his associates namely Farman Din alias Fama was also booked under the same case as part of backward linkage, backed by technical evidence and accused disclosure, police said.
Further given the highly notorious nature of drug peddler and his involvement in multiple FIRs, accused Farman Ali was booked under Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotics Drugs & Psychotropic substances Act (PITNDPS). However, his associate is currently absconding. Now in coordination with PS Bishnah, civil administration of Bari Brahmana and Bishnah, Police Station Bari Brahmana has seized properties of both accused and his associate, police said.
