2 IEDs recovered from LoC

JAMMU, Oct 15: Army today recovered two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) planted by the militants along the Line of Control (LoC) at Balnoi in Mendhar sector of Poonch district before fleeing back to Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) last night.
An Army jawan of Special Forces (para commando) and a Pakistani militant of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) were killed in the fierce gun battle in Balnoi area on the LoC late last evening.
Sources said rest of the four to five militants escaped during the night after planting some IEDs on the LoC with a view to target the Army personnel. However, the troops conducted extensive searches on the LoC this morning and recovered two powerful IEDs, which were later defused.
GOC 25 Infantry Division Rajouri Maj Gen DA Chaturvedi, Brig Anubhav Bhagi from Krishna Ghati Brigade and Commanding Officer Col Amit Bist visited Balnoi today for on spot assessment of the situation.
Sources said body of the slain militant has been recovered from the LoC but not identified so far. He belonged to the LeT outfit. One AK-47 rifle, four magazines, 70 rounds, one pouch and one hand grenade were recovered from the possession of slain militant.
