2 inter-State drug traffickers arrested with poppy straw

JAMMU, June 18: Gandhi Nagar police under Operation Sanjeevani busted inter-State drugs traffickers racket with the arrest of two persons and recovery of 8 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Gandhi Nagar police station laid a naka near cremation ground Shastri Nagar. On seeing police cops, the pedestrians tried to escape, but the cops intercepted them.
During checking, police recovered 8 kilograms of poppy straw from the possession of the pedestrians and arrested them, who have been identified as Manjit Singh, son of Piara Lal and Surjit Singh, son of Jeet Ram, both residents of Jalandhar, Punjab.
With the arrest of the accused persons, the Gandhi Nagar police achieved a major success to save the youth from becoming drug addicts.
A case under FIR Number 107/17 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Ritesh Samyal made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas and SP Headquarters Jammu RC Kotwal.
