RAMBAN, Sept 19: Two Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were among three person killed when a truck carrying the jawans plunged into a gorge along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.

As per police sources, a private truck bearing registration number JK02F-6375, hired by the BSF, was part of a convoy carrying personnel to Kashmir from Jammu reportedly for deployment in connection with the upcoming Municipal and Panchayat polls.
The accident occurred around 2.10 pm at Rattanbas near Banihal when the driver lost control over the vehicle which rolled down into an over 150-feet-deep gorge.
Civilian volunteers along with police and BSF personnel immediately launched a rescue operation.
After hectic efforts, the bodies of two BSF personnel Ajeet Singh, son of Joginder Singh of Goga Bhagalpur Bihar and Atma Singh of Darkot Fareedkot Punjab of 89th Battalion were retrieved from the mangled truck and shifted to morgue of Sub District Hospital (SDH) Banihal.
The driver, Balbir Singh, son of Nettar Singh of Basti Gobindpora Tehsil RS Pura District Jammu was rescued in a critical condition but succumbed while being shifted to a SDH Banihal.
After completing legal formalities, the bodies of the deceased were handed over to legal heirs for last rites.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Banihal Police Station and investigation started.
