SRINAGAR, Oct 16: Two Army personnel were injured in a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast that took place in Baramulla today.
A Defence spokesman said that an Army convoy was passing the village Nadihal on the highway from Chowkibal to Srinagar this morning when an IED blast damaged took place damaging one vehicle of the convoy. “Two soldiers in the vehicle suffered minor injuries”, he said.
The spokesman said that following the blast, the complete area was cordoned off and searched for the possibility of other explosives. “On getting clearance from Blast Explosive Experts, the convoy was moved to a safer location .The two Army personnel who sustained minor injuries were shifted to ADS Baramulla where the condition of both was declared stable”, he added.
Reports said that Army’s jammer belonging to 7 Garhwal unit was damaged. Soon after the incident, Army, SOG and police cordoned off the whole area and launched searches to nab the attackers behind the attack.
