KATHUA, Nov 21: Two persons were killed while at least eleven others injured in two separate road accidents in district Kathua this afternoon.
A police spokesman said that a minor girl was killed while nine others were injured after a Mohindra cab skidded off the road and fell into a gorge near Malaman village in Budhi-Jakhol area this afternoon. The mishap took place when some members of a family had gone to Jakhol from Ramkote for engagement ofd the girl. While returning, the vehicle bearing registration No.JK08C/1571 landed into a gorge, resulting into the death of a minor girl and causing injuries to nine others.
The deceased was identified as Veena Devi (16), daughter of Bishan Dass, resident of Ramkot. All the other injured persons were shifted to district hospital Kathua. Seriously injured, Balbir Singh, son of Joginder Singh of Ramkote was referred to GMC hospital, Jammu. The other injured persons were provided treatment in Kathua hospital and some of them were later discharged. The police arrested the driver for negligence.
Meanwhile, one person was killed and two others injured when a bike was hit by a mini truck (JK08B/6106) near Hiranagar this evening. The deceased has been identified as Army jawan, Sanjay Sharma, son Ramesh Kumar of Kathua. The two pillion riders injured in the mishap were referred to GMC, Jammu. They were identified as Parveen and Sandeep from Kathua. The police seized the vehicle and arrested driver Naresh Kumar, son of Tirath Ram of Kathua. A case was registered in this connection.
