2 killed, 4 hurt in Doda mishap

DODA, Mar 27: Two persons including a septuagenarian were killed, while four others were injured, when the van they were travelling in, skidded off the road and plunged into gorge near Khanpura on Thathri-Gandoh road today morning.
The ill-fated Van bearing registration number JK06-7732 was on its way to Thathri from Khanpura, when the driver failed to negotiate a sharp curve and it fell down into gorge near Khanpura, resulting into injuries to six persons.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and with the help of locals, retrieved the injured persons from the gorge.
All the injured persons were shifted to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Thathri, where doctors declared two injured persons as brought dead, while after first aid, the left over injured persons were later referred to District Hospital Doda.
Out of four injured persons, two were referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu for advanced treatment.
After conducting autopsy, the bodies of the deceased identified as Nisar Ahmed (38), son of Barkat Ali and Fatima Begum (75), wife of Saif Din Khan, both residents of Khanpura have been handed over to family members for last rites.
The injured have been identified as Noor Din (50), son of Jamal Din, Shamim Ahmed (22), son of Noor Din, Misra Begum (50), wife of Abdul Latief and Khalid Hussain (16), son of Abdul Latief, all residents of Khanpura, tehsil Thathri.
A case under FIR Number 23/18 under Sections 279, 337 and 304-A RPC has been registered at Thathri Police Station and investigation started.
