2 killed, 5 injured in road accidents

UDHAMPUR, Feb 28: A pedestrian was knocked to death by a speeding e-auto near Post Office, while an elderly man died and his two sons among five persons were injured in collision between two cars at Saloura, near Tikri on the National Highway, here today.
According to the police report, the collision took place when the car bearing registration number JK02BE-5333 coming from Jammu to Udhampur in wrong lane, hit the other car ( JK14E-4049), coming from opposite direction.
Locals and police rushed to the spot and took the injured persons to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors declared one of them as brought dead.
The deceased was identified as Girdhari Lal (66), son of Dina Nath, resident of Chadote Kund, Doda.
The injured persons were identified as Ranjeet Kumar (38), son of Amar Nath of Marmat, Doda, Rajinder Kumar (42), son of Girdhari Lal of Moothi Chadoth, Vipen Kumar (32), son of Jagan Nath of Premnagar Doda, Suresh Kumar (35) son of Girdhari Lal of Moothi and Narinder Sharma (55) son of Lt Shotu Lal of Jajar Kotli Jammu.
Meanwhile, a pedestrian, identified as Ram Parshad (62), son of Shiv Lal of Billan Boli, Udhampur, was hit by a rashly driven e-auto near Post Office, this evening.
The victim was rushed to Udhampur Hospital where doctors declared him as brought dead. Police have registered a case in this connection.
