POONCH, Oct 15: Two persons were killed while six others were injured when the Tata Sumo they were traveling in skidded off the road and rolled down into gorge near Barachar village of Loran, today evening.
As per police sources, a Tata Sumo bearing registration number JK12 1935 was on its way to Mandi from Loran, when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it fell into gorge near Barachar village of Loran, resulting into injuries to eight persons.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and started rescue operation. All the injured persons were taken to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Mandi where doctors declared two of the injured as brought dead.
Three injured persons were referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu for advanced treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Farooq Ahmed (30), son of Mohammad Afzal, a resident of Loran and Sajad Ahmed (40), son of Mohammad Shafi, a resident of Lohalbela.
The injured were identified as Abdul Hamid (50), son of Mohammad Sharif, Mohammad Din (40), son of Lal Din, Manzoor Ahmed Sheikh (40), son of Mohammad Sheikh, all residents of Lohalbela, Abdul Majid, son of Akbar Sheikh, a resident of Barachar, Irshad Ahmed, son of Abdul Salam, a resident of Barachar and Fatima Bi, wife of Khadam Hussain, a resident of Arai.
A case under relevant sections has been registered at Loran Police Station and investigation started.
