SRINAGAR, Oct 3: Two persons were killed and eight others injured in different road accidents across the Valley.
A police spokesman said a tri-cycle met with an accident near Lasjan in Nowgam area of city here resulting in death of cyclist identified as Mohammad Iqbal Sheikh who was a resident of West Bengal. “The body of deceased has been taken into custody for medico-legal formalities,” he said. In another accident, the spokesman said, a person identified as Muzaffar Ahmad Malik who was injured in a road accident on October 1st at M A road here succumbed to his injuries at SKIMS Soura. “The body was handed over to legal heirs for last rites after completing legal formalities,” the spokesman said, adding that a case has been registered in this regard.
The police spokesman said a Tavera Vehicle JK01W-5251 and a Scooty number E3N6E0053382 collided at Rayil Gund in Ganderbal district, resulting in injuries to Scooty rider. The injured was shifted to hospital for treatment.
The spokesman said a bus bearing registration number JK01Y-0546 and Alto K10 car met with an accident at Dongimarg along Mughal Road in Herpora area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district, resulting in injuries to four persons identified as Mohammad Yaqoob Awan, Mohammad Shafi Bajad, Miss Zahida and Miss Nusrat. All the injured have been shifted to the hospital for treatment.
He said a motorcycle on way from Bonigam to Chowgam Skidded off the road at Nawa Link Road in Qazigund area of Kulgam district, resulting in injuries to two persons identified as Mohammad Jabbar and Tawqeer Ahmad of Bihar. Both the injured have been shifted to the hospital for treatment.
The police spokesman further said an unknown Motorcyclist on way from Sagipora to Pohrupath hit and injured a pedestrian namely Javed Ahmad Sheikh in Handwara are area of Kupwara district. “The injured was shifted to the hospital for treatment. Police have registered a case in this regard,” the spokesman added.
