2 killed, dozen injured in road mishaps

SRIANGAR, July 23: Two persons were killed and twelve others injured in two separate road accidents across the Valley today, police said.
A police spokesman said that 12 passengers were injured when a Tata 407 passenger vehicle, bearing registration number JK01D/3378, turned turtle near Ompora in district Budgam.
He said the injured were removed to District Hospital, Budgam, for treatment. Among the injured Mohammad Yousuf Dar, son of Ghulam Rasool of Takiya Farooq, Khan Sahib, Budgam, was referred to SKIMS, Soura, where he succumbed to his injuries.
In another accident, a man drowned in Kishan Ganga river when a Tractor, bearing registration number JK09/8919, on way from Chilyan to Teetwal in Karnah area rolled down into the river Kishan Ganga, police said.
The spokesman said Faraz Ahmad, son of Mohammad Iliyas of Teetwal, Karnah got drowned and Jaffer Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Hassan of Ckokli received injuries in the mishap.
He said the injured was shifted to Sub District Hospital Tangdar for treatment. Faraz’s body was fished out by a local of PoK and handed over to Police Station Karnah through Army.
