Locals protest, block road

SAMBA, July 8: Two youth were killed in a road accident which took place at Nud on Samba-Mansar road near this evening.
According to the information received, the duo was coming in the car from Nud towards Samba and suddenly the car collided with the tipper coming from the opposite direction. Both the youth were seriously injured and they were rushed to the District Hospital Samba with the help of local people.
On reaching the hospital, both the youth were declared as brought dead by the doctor. Their dead bodies have been kept in the mortuary room of Samba Hospital for post-mortem. The deceased have been identified as Bhanu Jamwal (32) son of Sham Singh Jamwal resident of Dorha and Kali (28) son of Sanduru Ram resident of Kapahi Nud. As soon as the news of the accident reached their villages, the pall of gloom descended on the twin villages. The police have also registered a case in this regard and started further investigation.
The accident took place in front of the newly opened wine shop in Nud. The irate people blocked by road for about 45 minutes and disrupted the movement of vehicles. Sonia Thakur a local resident alleged that there is a sharp turn near the accident place and the fear of accidents at this place always looms large but the drivers never care about that and they don’t control the speed at this sharp curve.
She said that they have appealed to the administration several times that the wine shop should be closed from this place but till date no proper action has been taken. On the other hand, Samba Police Station in-charge, Deepak Jasrotia, who reached the spot, made the road smooth for the movement of vehicles after assuring the people that their demand will be looked into. The family members, relatives and friends of Bhanu Jamwal also protested as they came to know about the accident.
Bhanu’s father has already died and Bhanu was a driver by profession and was the bread earner for the family. While Kali was also the bread earner for his family who was doing manual work to feed himself and his family.
