2 killed in road accidents

RAMBAN, June 30: Two persons were killed today in separate road accidents in Ramban district.
According to a police official, a rashly driven oil tanker bearing registration number JK01J-0714 rolled down the road at Battary Chasma and plunged into a 600-700 feet deep gorge, early this morning.
On getting information of the accident, a joint team of Ramban police, Red Cross QRT and Army launched a rescue operation and recovered the dead body of the driver of the tanker. The deceased was identified as Mudasir Ahmed son of Mohd Ismail, resident of Chachwah, tehsil Awantipora, district Pulwama.
The official said that the body was shifted to District Hospital Ramban for postmortem while a case FIR Number 147 under Sections 279/304 was registered at police station Ramban.
Meanwhile, a tractor bearing registration number JK02BQ-5668 hit and seriously injured a pedestrian on Sangaldan Famrote Road at Krara. The injured man identified as Anees Ahmed son of Abdul Majeed, resident of Alibass, tehsil Ukhral was rushed to District Hospital Ramban, where doctors declared him as brought dead.
The body was sent for postmortem while a case FIR Number 47 under Sections 279/304 was registered at police station Gool.
