Arms, ammunition recovered in Gulmarg

SRINAGAR July 25: Two militants of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) were killed in an encounter that broke out militants and security forces in the Ranbirgarh area in the outskirts of Srinagar city.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, told Excelsior that security forces foiled a major attack on the National Highway in North of Srinagar. “This group was planning an attack on the security forces between Pattan and Lawveypora on the highway”, he said.
An official said one of the militants has been identified as Ajaz Ahmad Bhat son of Ali Mohammad Bhat of Laribal in Kakapora area of Pulwama district. He said that Bhat was a C category militant and was active since June last year.

The other militant was Ishfaq Rashid Khan son of Abdul Rashid Khan of Sozeith Srinagar. He was active since November 2018. Both of them were associated with LeT.
The operation was launched this morning by police and Army’s 29 RR after specific information about the presence of two militants in the village.
As the troops approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering off a gunfight in which two militants were killed.

One soldier was injured during the ongoing operation in Ranbirgarh. The injured soldier was shifted to 92 Base hospital for treatment.
And Srinagar based Defence spokesman, Colonel Rajesh Kalia said here that arms and ammunition were recovered in Gulmarg sector of the LoC today.
He said that a search operation was launched this morning based on input regarding presence of weapon cache in forest area of Marpathri in upper reaches of Gulmarg in district Baramulla. “One Dragnov Sniper rifle with magazines, 194 AK-47 rounds, 10 rifle grenades & two IED circuits were recovered”, he said.
And police in Awantipora today busted a militant hide in forest area of Chinphadi Machama Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Polic said that on specific information regarding militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad in forest area of Chinphadi Machama Tral,Police with 42 RR of Army and 130 battalion of CRPF launched a search operation early today.
“One sloping hideout of the JeM militants roughly 8ft x 8ft with height of approximately 5ft was busted and subsequently destroyed”, he said.
“The incriminating material of Jaish-e-Mohammad was recovered from the destroyed hideout. The incriminating material has been taken into police custody for investigation purpose”, police said.
A case (FIR Number 64 /2020) under relevant Sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tral.
