UDHAMPUR, Feb 28: On the direction of District Magistrate Udhampur, two marriage halls and one resort were sealed for violation of pollution control norms.
In accordance with directives from the J&K Pollution Control Board and with approval of the competent authority, the DM invoked Section 33(A) of the Water Prevention and Control of Pollution Act, 1974, and Section 31(A) of the Air Prevention and Control of Pollution Act, 1981, along with Section 5 of the Environment Protection Act, 1986, against Raghunath Palace, Thappa Palace, and Bharat Resort within Udhampur District.
A team of officials, comprising representatives from Revenue, Police, and PCB, led by Tehsildar Udhampur, Jai Singh, enforced the closure of the identified establishments.
On February 15, five hotels and a banquet hall were sealed.
