2 MCC violations come to fore in Reasi, DEO orders action

REASI, Mar 13: District Election Officer today issued orders for action in case of two violations of Model Code of Conduct. The violations pertain to transfers of Executive Engineer PMGSY and Assistant Director Handlooms.
The complaint against Executive Engineer Public Work Department was that he took over the charge of PMGSY Division Reasi after Model Code of Conduct coming into force.  On the receipt of complaint, the matter was referred to Nodal Officer MCC, Rajinder Singh Tara on March 7.
During enquiry, it was found that Hem Raj Langey joined as Executive Engineer PMGSY Reasi on March 6 afternoon thereby making it a case of MCC violation. Commissioner/Secretary PWD was asked by the Election Authorities on March 7 to take corrective measures as the predecessor of the Executive Engineer was also Sector Officer assigned election duties.
With no action from the department, the District Election Officer issued an order directing the officer to immediately leave the territorial jurisdiction of the district as he was also a local officer and department has been asked for alternative arrangement.
Another order issued by Director Handicrafts on March 13 asking Assistant Director Handicrafts, Reasi Manu Hansa to take over additional charge of same post at Poonch was also found violating the Model Code of Conduct and the District Election Officer has issued order mentioning that the order of Director Handicrafts shall not be implemented and action under election laws shall be taken for violation of the code.
Director has also been asked for withdrawing the order and seeking approval of Election Commission of India through Chief Electoral Officer.
Meanwhile, the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee issued notices in two reported cases of paid news involving leaders of a national political party in Udhampur-Kathua constituency.
