JAMMU, Dec 2: To keep Super Specialty Nephrology Department in the Government Medical College running, the Government has deputed Dr Aman Gupta, Super Specialist in Nephrology to the Department from Gandhi Nagar Hospital while Dr Raju Bhandari, who was on leave, is also likely to join back.
GMC Principal Dr Sunanda Raina told the Excelsior that she along with Dr Vijay Kundal from Medicines Department visited Nephrology Department yesterday as well as today and from tomorrow Dr Aman Gupta, who was working with the Directorate of Health Services, will join the Nephrology Department in the Super Specialty Hospital of the GMC Jammu.
Also, she said, Dr Raju Bhandari, who was on leave, is likely to join Nephrology Department.
“The Nephrology Depart-ment will keep functioning as usual,” Dr Raina said.
Dr Aman Gupta, MD Medicines Nephrology, was Medical Officer working with the Directorate of Health Services.
Dr Raina said she took up the matter with Principal Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Atal Dulloo, who has deputed Dr Gupta in the Nephrology Department. She said Dr Raju Bhandari, also a Medical Officer, is likely to join the Department.
Worthwhile to mention here that Dr SK Bali, HoD Nephrology has retired on November 30 and he was the only faculty member in the Department
Dr Raina said the Government has also called interview of doctors for Nephrology Department under SRO 384 and they have received number of applications. When the interviews are conducted, more doctors will join the Department, she added.
