JAMMU, Sept 17: Police arrested six persons including two medicos and recovered large quantity of poppy straw, intoxicant capsules and tablets.
As per police sources, on specific information, a police team led by SDPO Nagrota Mohan Sharma along with SHO Jhajjar Kotli Inspector Mohammad Shokat laid a naka and intercepted a motorcycle.
During checking, police team recovered poppy straw and intoxicant capsules and tablets from the possession of three persons riding on the motorcycle and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Anil Kumar, son of Bishan Dass of Kakryal, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi, Sudesh Kumar alias Shotu, son of Shankar Dass of Moori, Tehsil Katra District Reasi and Mushtaq Ahmed, son of Khan Mir of Badola, Jhajjar Kotli.
During questioning, the arrested persons disclosed that they use to get the consignment from M/s Bikram Medicos Dansal.
Acting over the information, the police team raided the medical shop and recovered intoxicant capsules and tablets. Police team arrested the owner of the medical shop, who was identified as Bikramjeet Singh, son of Jaswant Singh of Tehsil Bhaderwah at present Dansal.
Moving ahead with the investigation, police team arrested one more drug peddler identified as Karan Kumar alias Bablu, son of Baloch Ram of Patyari, Akhnoor. Karan Kumar used to supply the intoxicants on the scooty, which was also seized by the police team.
To catch the big fish involved in this illegal trade, police team on the disclosure of Karan Kumar raided M/s Rajat Pharmaceuticals at Karan Nagar and recovered intoxicant capsules and tablets. The owner of the medical shop identified as Ramesh Singh alias Rajat, son of Pawan Singh of Paloura, District Jammu.
During questioning, Ramesh Singh disclosed that he used to purchase the intoxicants from Punjab for selling in different areas of the Jammu and its outskirt areas.
Total recovery affected from the arrested persons is 13 kilograms poppy straw and 1370 intoxicant capsules and tablets. Two vehicles were also seized from the possession of these drug peddlers.
A case under FIR Number 118/19 under Section 8/15/21/22/27-A/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and investigation initiated.
It is pertinent to mention here that police team led by SDPO Nagrota Mohan Sharma arrested 23 drug peddlers within one week from the jurisdiction of Nagrota and Jhajjar Kotli Police Stations along with large quantity of intoxicants including high grade ‘heroin’.
