2 militants killed in Bandipora, Kupwara operations

SRINAGAR, Nov 6: Security forces today killed two foreign militants in separate operations in Bandipora and Kupwara districts of north Kashmir.

A Defence spokesperson said that one militant was neutralized during an ongoing operation in Bandipora, which had been launched after a fierce firefight broke out on Monday afternoon in the Kaitsan forest area.

In a separate operation in Kupwara’s Lolab area, Army established contact with militants hiding in the area, leading to another gun battle. The operation ended successfully with the elimination of one militant.
Security forces recovered an M-4 rifle and AK rifle, two hand grenades, four magazines, ammunition and other war-like materials from the killed militants.
The operation had been initiated on November 5, based on specific intelligence about militants presence.
The identity of the killed militants is still being determined.
