SRINAGAR, Jan 29: Five members of a family including two minors, were rushed to a hospital in Kupwara after they were found unconscious.
The officials said that they were brought in from SDH Kralpora to District Hospital, Handwara during the intervening night of Thursday-Friday.
They said that they were found unconscious after consuming a wild herb which they had mixed in a sweet dish.
“They had made a sweet dish at home and had mixed some wild herb in it for an unknown reason after which they were found unconscious prompting the family members to rush them to the hospital,” Medical Superintendent, DH Handwara Dr Nisar Ahmad told Excelsior.
He said that they were given initial treatment at DH Handwara soon after they were brought in and were later referred to SMHS for further treatment.
“The mixing of that herb led to poisoning and we promptly referred them to Srinagar where they are now doing well,” he said, adding that they might be discharged soon from the hospital.
Those undergoing treatment have been identified as Abdul Gafar Khan (50), Javaid Ahmed Khan (36), Masooda Begum, 35, Basit Majeed, 12, and 10-year-old Hamid Majeed.
