POONCH, Apr 16: Two children were killed in separate road accidents at Magnad and Mankote in district Poonch today.
A police spokesman said that 11-year-old Payal, daughter of one Naresh Kumar, resident of Magnad village was hit by an Army vehicle when she was going to her school on foot at around 9.20 am. The girl was killed on the spot while the driver escaped along with vehicle.
The people informed Police at Poonch. The police party rushed to the spot and shifted the dead body to hospital for postmortem. Later, it was handed over to the family for last rites. The police registered a case in this connection.
Another report from Mendhar said that 6-year-old Ghulam Mustafa, son of Mohd Mumtaz, resident of Mankote was seriously injured after he was hit by a tractor at his village late last evening. He was shifted to Sub District Hospital Mendhar by the family where he succumbed to injuries during last mid night.
The police registered a case and started manhunt for the tractor driver who was absconding.
