2 missing, 3 hurt in Bani mishap

BANI, Aug 20: Two persons were missing while three others seriously injured after a car skidded into a deep gorge on Basohli-Bani road in district Kathua late this evening.
The mishap took place at around 8 pm, when five persons including a 10-year-old boy, left for Darshan of famous Goddess temple at Bani, in a brand new car from Jammu. The road was in bad condition and it was thick fog in the area, surrounded by thick forest.
As the vehicle reached at Magiyar, just 15 kms short of Bani town, the vehicle due to mis-judgment of driver rolled into a deep gorge. As the people came to know about the incident, they sounded police and an Army camp located in the area. Later, a joint operation was launched to trace the victims. Three seriously injured persons were removed from the nalla and shifted to Bani hospital.
They were identified as Pawan Sharma (39), son of Madan Gopal, resident of Talab Tilloo Jammu, Vinod Choudhary (42), son of Roshan Lal, resident of Kunjwani and Satinder Kumar, son of Banarsi Dass of Narwal.
Two persons namely Des Raj and his 10 year old nephew, Vicky were said to be missing and the security force men were unable to trace them due to darkness in the deep gorge till 10 pm.
Meanwhile, an Army jawan who was seriously injured in road accident near Nowshera last evening succumbed to injuries in Army hospital here today.
Six jawans were injured last evening when a bus and Army vehicle collided near Narian in Nowshera, on Jammu-Poonch highway. Sepoy Parveen Kumar, hailing from Himachal succumbed to injuries in Army hospital, Rajouri today. His body was dispatched to his home village.
