UDHAMPUR, July 21: Police arrested two narcotics smugglers from Tikri area and recovered heroin from their possession, here today.
A team from Police Post Tikri, led by Nishat Sumbria, SHO Police Station Rehambal and assisted by IC PP Tikri, while performing routine naka checking at Tikri naka point stopped one vehicle bearing registration number HR26BP-4775 (Toyota Etios) for checking purpose.
On frisking of driver and his associate in the vehicle, approximately 15.83 grams of heroin was recovered from their possession following which both of them were taken into custody.
The accused were identified as the driver Anif Ayub Dar, son of Mohd Ayub Dar of Bhagi Sunderbala Chattabal, Srinagar and Tahir Ahmed, son of Ali Mohd of Safa Kadal, Srinagar.
In this connection, a case FIR number 165/2024 U/S 8/21/22/ NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Rehambal and further investigation is going on.
