UDHAMPUR, Dec 14: An inter-state narco smuggler was arrested with 8.7 kg of poppy straw from Roundomail area while another drug peddler was arrested with 6.14 grams of heroin at Omara Morh Udhampur.
A police team, led by SHO Udhampur Raghuvir Singh, intercepted a truck bearing Registration number PB13AW-9566 at Roundomail. During checking, 8.7 kg poppy straw like substance was recovered from the said vehicle following which its driver was arrested.
The driver disclosed his identity as Baljit Rai, son of Raj Kumar of H.No 459 Indira Colony, Amritsar. In this connection, a case FIR under NDPS Act has been registered in P/S Udhampur.
In another case, Police team from Police Station Udhampur apprehended one person at Omara Morh, Udhampur. On frisking, 6.14 grams of heroin like contraband substance was recovered from possession of the apprehended person namely Tarun Gupta, son of Ved Parkash of ward number 01, Gujjar Hostel, Udhampur.
On this, a case vide FIR No. 499/2024 U/S 8/21/22/ NDPS Act was registered in P/S Udhampur.
