SAMBA, Dec, 27: District Police Samba has arrested two narcotic smugglers and recovered 400 kgs of Poppy Straw like substance at Police Naka Mansar, in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Samba.
Acting on credible input about smuggling of narcotics in a Punjab bound truck, a police party of Police Post (PP) Mansar during vehicle checking at naka Mansar intercepted a truck bearing registration Number JK04F-5509 coming from Valley and moving towards Punjab via Udhampur- Mansar-Samba road.
During checking of the truck, about 40 apple boxes were found loaded with Poppy Straw like substance weighing about 400 Kgs.
The accused driver identified as Farooq Ahmed Ganie, son of Mohammad Akbar Ganie of Rajpora, district Pulwama along with his associate Shabir Ahmed Dar, son of Mohammad Akbar Dar of Kangan, Pulwama have been arrested on the spot and the contraband item along with vehicle was seized.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 372/2021 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Samba and further investigation started.
