JAMMU, Oct 29: Four employees including two nurses of Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital were suspended today for demanding money from the attendants of a patient, who delivered baby late last night.
As per official sources, a patient (expecting mother), hailing from District Rajouri was admitted in SMGS Hospital few days back. Late last night, the patient delivered a baby.
After the delivery of the baby, four employees of the hospital started demanding money from the attendants and relatives of the patient.
Demanding money in the hospitals, where delivery of ladies took place is a routine affair, but this time the attendants of the patient admitted in SMGS Hospital complained the incident to the Medical Superintendent (MS) of SMGS Hospital Dr Dara Singh.
Acting over the complaint, MS Dr Singh suspended four employees of the hospital including two nurses with immediate effect. The suspended officials have been identified as Karo Devi and Laxmi (Nurses) and Rajni and Suresh (Nursing Orderlies).
When contacted MS, SMGS Hospital, Dr Dara Singh confirmed the suspension of four employees after consultation with the Health Minister Choudhary Lal Singh.
He added that an enquiry committee headed by Assistant MS Dr Meenakshi has been constituted to look into the allegations leveled on the employees. The committee will submit report within one week, he asserted.
“If anybody will be found guilty strict action will be taken initiated against him/her”, he maintained.
