JAMMU, Jan 7: Doda Police today arrested two Over Ground Workers (OGWs) of militants who were planning to kill a surrendered militant and instigating youth to take up militant ranks in the district.
SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom told the Excelsior that Doda Police acted on a tip off after developing inputs that two OGWs were exploiting Social Media to lure youth into militancy.
They have been identified as Fareed Ahmed Naik son of Abdul Wahid, a resident of village Dhar and Ghulam Hassan son of Ghulam Nabi Lone of Gundana, both in Doda district.
They have been booked under Sections 108/107/151 and sent to judicial lock-up.
According to sources, Ghulam Hassan was in contact with Pakistan-based militant handlers and involved in providing them logistic support and information as well as receiving money from Pakistan via Dubai.
However, the charges are being investigated.
As per the sources, there were inputs from the Army and Intelligence agencies also that the arrested OGWs were plotting the killing of a former militant.
“The plot has been thwarted with their arrest,” sources said.
