SAMBA, Apr 1: In order to review progress achieved in implementing Community Led Total Sanitation Campaign (CLTS), District Development Commissioner, Sheetal Nanda today inspected and verified various Individual Household Latrines (IHHL units) constructed in financial year 2016-17 in Panchayat Bagla Jakh of block Vijaypur.
The Panchayat has recently been made Open Defecation Free with 100% households having access to sanitation facilities and is being recommended to Government of India for its formal declaration as ODF.
The DDC also kick started Geo-tagging of IHHLs constructed in the district and directed the District Panchayat Officer, Aijaz Qaiser to complete the process by April 30.
A team of officers led by Additional District Development Commissioner, Vivek Sharma was also deputed to panchayat Chachwal of block Rajpura for inspection and physical verification of IHHL units constructed there.
The Panchayat with 495 households has been made Open Defecation Free with 100% households having access to toilets and is also being recommended for its formal declaration as Open Defecation Free.
At Jakh, the DDC directed the BDO to prepare a DPR of main pond Najwal under 14th FC in convergence with MGNREGA keeping in view the treatment of its watershed and rain water harvesting potential which can be replicated in other water bodies across the district.
