2 peddlers arrested with heroin, cannabis

SRINAGAR, Dec 11: Police today arrested two drug peddlers in Budgam and Ganderbal, recovering contraband substances from their possession.
Authorities reported that a police party from PS Chadoora, stationed at a checkpoint near Mehnoor Crossing Chadoora, intercepted a suspicious person at Gund Maqsood.
Upon seeing the police, the individual attempted to flee but was tactfully apprehended.
“He has been identified as Asif Shafi Bhat, son of Mohd Shafi Bhat, a resident of Gund Maqsood, Chadoora,” police said.
According to the police, during the search, 8 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession. “He was arrested and shifted to the police station, where he remains in custody.”
Meanwhile, in Ganderbal, the police received information from reliable sources indicating that a person named Muzzafer Ahmad Kambay, son of Khazir Mohammad Kambay, resident of Wanihama Bala, was hoarding contraband substances in his residential house and involved in dealing and selling drugs to the local youth.
Acting swiftly, a police party led by IC PP Nagbal raided the specific location.
During the search, police reported the recovery of 3 kilograms of dry cannabis with seeds hidden in a pit yard of his residential house. He was arrested.
