2 peddlers nabbed with charas, codeine bottles

SRINAGAR, Nov 21: Police today arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and Kulgam, from whose possession charas and bottles of codeine were recovered.
Police said, a police party from the police post Babareshi, led by Incharge PP Babareshi under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg, established a checkpoint at Babareshi Crossing and intercepted one person.
During the search, police recovered 28 grams of charas powder-like substance from his possession, police said.
“He has been identified as Mohd Azhar Khan, son of Tariq Ahmad, resident of Qazipora Tangmarg, Baramulla. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Tangmarg, where he remains in custody.”
Similarly, in Kulgam, a police party headed by SHO Police Station Kulgam, during patrolling at Buchroo, intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully by the alert police party.
During the search, officers recovered nine bottles of Codeine Phosphate-like substance from his possession, police said.
He has been identified as Sabzar Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohd Ahsan Bhat, resident of Tarigam, Kulgam, police said. “He has been arrested and shifted to the police station, where he remains in custody.”
Accordingly, police said, cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered at respective police stations, and further investigation has been initiated.
