2 peddlers nabbed with heroin, charas

SRINAGAR, Jan 20: Police today arrested two drug peddlers in Ganderbal and Baramulla, recovering heroin and charas from their possession.
Authorities reported that Ganderbal Police received specific information regarding the presence of a contraband substance in a residential house owned by Javaid Ahmad Laharwal, son of the late Abdul Gaffar Laharwal, and a resident of Kondabal.
“On receipt of this information, a police party, on the directions of SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar and led by SHO Police Station Safapora under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Ganderbal, raided the said residential house.”
During the search, police said, a heroin-like substance was recovered from the house. “The recovered contraband substance was seized in the presence of Executive Magistrate First Class, and the accused was arrested on the spot,” police said.
In Baramulla, authorities reported that a police party from Police Station Boniyar, headed by SHO PS Boniyar at a checkpoint established at Ahtishampora Boniyar, intercepted one person.
During the search, police said, 46 grams of Charas-like substance were recovered from his possession. “He has been identified as Imran Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ghulam Mohd Sheikh, resident of Bujhthalan Boniyar. He has been arrested”.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered at respective Police Stations, and further investigations have been taken up.
