2 peddlers nabbed with poppy, charas

Srinagar, Apr 8: Police today arrested two drug-peddlers in separate incidents in Sopore and Baramulla and recovered poppy straw and charas from their possession.
Authorities reported that a police team from Police Station Sopore, led by SHO and supervised by SDPO Sopore, Sarfaraz Bashir, intercepted a vehicle driven by Farooq Ahmad Mir, resident of Adipora, Sopore, at a checkpoint in the area.
“During the search of the vehicle, about 2 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Sopore,” police stated.
In Baramulla, authorities reported that a police team led by SHO PS Uri, intercepted a person identified as Kabir Ali Manhas, resident of Paranpeelan Baramulla, at a checkpoint established at Garkote-Laghama.
“During the search, 240 grams of charas was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Uri, police added.
Subsequently, cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered in respective Police Stations, and further investigation has been initiated.
