RAJOURI, Sept 29: The villagers over powered two Army (RR) jawans from the maize fields for allegedly creating terror in Kotla Kala Ban area of Manjakot and handed over to police after giving them good thrashing.
Reports said the people noticed a Sumo coming to the village in the evening. Two masked men were noticed moving towards the nearby maize fields. Some people kept a watch on their activity. As they did not come out of the maize fields for long, the locals laid a seize and then over powered both the masked men. The people started beating them with kicks and blows, describing them members of black masked men gang creating terror in the area for the last several weeks.
The captured youth revealed that they were from RR unit and had been sent on some mission in the area by their seniors. Later, some army men also reached there but the villagers refused to hand over to them. The villagers claimed that these men will be handed over to Rajouri police. They contacted Rajouri Police and later SHO Manjakote along with some force reached the village. The captured jawans were then taken to Rajouri. They belonged to Mendhar and Kalakote area. A large number of villagers followed the police demanding that they should be produced before DC Rajouri. The men were in police custody now. The people are demanding high level inquiry into the matter. They were later identified as Jahangir Khan ( Belt No. 9103163-F) hailing from Garan in Kalakot and Zulfikar Ahmed ( Belt No. 909835-K), son Fazal Karim of Sakhi Maidan Mendhar.
