2 school girls raped; accused arrested

UDHAMPUR, June 8: Two minor girls were allegedly raped in Chattrari area of Ramnagar when they were returning home from school picnic, last evening.
Acting swiftly, Police have arrested the accused persons, who were absconding after committing the crime. They were identified as Dalip Kumar, son of Ramesh Kumar of Panchound and Ravinder Kumar, son of Bansi Lal of Panchound, Tehsil Ramnagar, District Udhampur.
According to Police, an information was received at Police Station Ramnagar that the two minor girls – aged 16 and 17, while returning to their home from school picnic last evening, were abducted by these two accused persons and taken to nearby jungle where they were raped. After committing the offence, both the accused persons fled away from the spot.
On this information, a case FIR number 62/2024 was registered under relevant sections of Law at Police Station Ramnagar and police team of PS Ramnagar rushed to the spot from where both the girls were found in unconscious condition, this morning.
Police shifted the victim girls to Sub District Hospital Ramnagar for medical treatment and dispatched teams to different suspected locations for arresting the accused persons.
Subsequently, a police team, led by SHO Ramnagar, S D Singh succeeded in arresting both the accused within 24 hours of commissioning of the crime. Further investigation into the case is going on.
