2 shot at over land dispute

JAMMU, Apr 21: Two persons were shot at allegedly over a land dispute in Sera Kotla area under the jurisdiction of Katra Police Station on the intervening night of April 20 and 21.
Police spokesman said that Rajan, son of Mulkh Raj of village Sera Kotla and Sunny, employee of the Mulkh Raj were shot at by the cousins of former over a land dispute at around 2.30 am. The incident happened after Rajan’s father Mulkh Raj built a shed on an ancestral property, which his nephews had objected to.
The victims were sleeping in the newly built shed when they were attacked by Jay Prakash and Kamal Kishore, sons of Shanker Dass (brother of Mulkh Raj) along with others with a 12 bore rifle. Soon after injuring the victims, all the accused fled from the village. Jay Prakash and Kamal Kishore took away families with them after locking the house.
Both the victims were rushed to Katra Hospital by some villagers and later both were rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital. Their condition was stated to be out of danger when reports last came in.
“We have recovered empty shell of 12 bore gun bullet from the scene of the crime”, said Additional SP Katra, Mohan Lal, who visited the village this morning, adding “efforts are on to nab the accused persons and hopefully within shortest possible time we will be able to apprehend them”.
A case FIR No.78/2013 under Sections 306, 458,427,147,148,149 and 34 RPC and 3/25/30 Arms Act has been registered at Katra Police Station in this regard.
