SRINAGAR, Jan 2: A devastating fire claimed the lives of two young siblings today in the Ferozpora area of Tangmarg in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The victims, identified as Mina Ashraf, 4, and Muntazir Ashraf, 3 months, were living in a wooden shed that caught fire under tragic circumstances. The shed belonged to their father, Mohammad Ashraf Dar, son of Ghulam Nabi Dar.

According to officials, the children’s mother had stepped out to buy vegetables when the fire broke out. She returned to find the shed engulfed in flames. Despite desperate efforts by locals to rescue the children, the rapid spread of the fire left them trapped inside.
Eyewitnesses described the fire as intense and uncontrollable, fueled by the dry wood of the structure. Both children died at the scene, leaving the locality in shock and mourning.
Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.
