UDHAMPUR, Oct 4: The police arrested two narco- smugglers and recovered over 14 kgs and 200 gms poppy straw from their possession at Jakheni nakka in Udhampur town.
Reports said a police team headed by Raghuvir Singh SHO Udhampur during routine vehicle checking at Jakhani, on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, stopped a truck bearing registration number PB02CC-9645 for checking purpose.
During checking of the said vehicle, one bag having nearly 14 kgs 200 grams of poppy straw was recovered.
The driver of the vehicle namely- Mahen Singh. son of Gurmukh Singh of Dalleke, Shahura Amritsar, Punjab and his associate namely Chanan Singh, son of Ashok Singh of Dalleke Shahura, Anjala, Amritsar were arrested on the spot.
A case vide FIR No. 404/2024 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered in P/S Udhampur against them and further investigation was launched. The vehicle was also seized along with consignment.
